Suicide Squad Game Delayed To Spring 2023

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League has been delayed officially, and it is now expected to launch in spring 2023. Speaking on Twitter, Rocksteady Creative Director (and co-founder) Sefton Hill said that the delay “is frustrating but that time is going into making the best game we can. I look forward to bringing the chaos to Metropolis together. Thanks for your patience.”

This delay comes not long after Warner Bros Montreal announced that Gotham Knights will be releasing on October 25 this year. Hill mentions that the delay will be to improve the quality of the final product. However, parent company Warner Bros. Games might have also wanted to ensure enough breathing room between the two DC Comics games.

Batman: Arkham Knight was released in 2015, so Rocksteady has a lot of expectations on its shoulders. Suicide Squad received a reveal trailer at DC Fandome in August 2020. The latest game from the renowned studio behind the Arkham series will place players into the boots of Amanda Waller’s Task Force X, as they attempt to do the impossible and take down the Justice League. Suicide Squad takes place after the events of Batman: Arkham Knight, in a Metropolis being invaded by Brainiac.

Suicide Squad has a lot of potential

The Game Awards 2021 gave us a short glimpse of gameplay and it looks promising. Suicide Squad will let players take control of Deadshot, Harley Quinn, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang with fast, third-person combat. Each character appears to be full of attention to detail, as you might expect from the DC fans at Rocksteady.

In gameplay, Deadshot can use his jetpack and fire various guns, Harley goes wild with melee armaments, King Shark can attack with brute force and a chain gun, and Captain Boomerang can teleport himself with his boomerangs. The game will be playable solo with the ability to swap characters, or it can be played cooperatively with up to four friends online.

After being delayed to spring 2023, Rocksteady can hopefully turn Suicide Squad into another fantastic DC adventure.
